For British manufacturer Haztec International, the Emergency Services Show represents a great opportunity to showcase its latest vehicle warning equipment to emergency services fleet managers, and this year is no exception.
New slimline high-output LED lightbar
The biggest news is the imminent launch of the manufacturer’s XL75 lightbar. With its 46mm-high aerodynamic profile, the XL75 can contain LEDs across its full length for maximum warning output (even when fitted with a very powerful +/- 120dB speaker), or can accommodate a centre sign, and/or programmable message signs. The message sign can be mounted at the front or rear, or both front and rear.
The XL75’s extra bright XT and XTX LED modules feature linear optics with moulded high-reflectivity collimators and high-performance, long-life LEDs, producing a powerful warning signal with a very even light spread. The modules are UNECE R65 Class 2 certified in amber, blue and red single, dual- and tri-colour combinations, with white or green LEDs also available. Products certified to UNECE R65 have undergone robust, independent testing to ensure they meet minimum standards for light intensity or brightness at all necessary angles.
The certification process also verifies flash frequency and light colour under Class 1 and/or the more stringent Class 2 conditions, in addition to water-ingress protection. This is in addition to Haztec’s own extensive test programme of lightbars, siren speakers and other vehicle warning equipment conducted at its Leeds, UK HQ, factory and research and development centre.
Warranty up to five years
This programme allows Haztec to supply its products with comprehensive warranties, typically up to five years for LEDs and up to three years on other products.
Modular design for complete versatility
The new lightbar’s design is modular and can be offered in many different lengths (628 to 1,873mm or 24 to 74in), and with all the essentials and options an emergency service vehicle warning system might require. Clear or coloured polycarbonate lenses can be combined with solid or coloured polycarbonate top covers. The interlocking, watertight, modular compartments provide additional strength and rigidity with minimal wind noise and are mounted onto strong extruded aluminium mounting rails, ensuring long life under the toughest of applications.
High-output heavy-duty speakers can be inbuilt and still allow either a centre sign below or a continuous row of LED modules for traffic arrow or other light functions. The lightbar is also available with automatic night/day sensor helping reduce glare for other road users.
The XL75 can also accommodate Haztec’s next generation 5-9507 99-message programmable message sign. Whether front and/or rear mounted, the sign can be operated from a single controller that also controls the vehicle warning equipment – no need for a separate handset. Priority messages are also easy to select at the push of a button. To maximise message visibility in strong sunlight, an optional sun shield can be fitted. The 5-9507 is also available in Haztec’s ever-popular Xpert lightbar or as a standalone sign in weatherproof housing.
Many new products
The XL75 and 5-9507 are just two of the many new products developed by the Leeds-based manufacturer who has been supplying worldwide for more than 20 years. Recent additions include the 8-82019-BT Bluetooth® junction box which allows pre-recorded messages to be broadcast via the siren PA facility, and the latest 8-82005 plug-in CANbus microphone and ModuLux modular switching controller. This compact, slimline (19.5mm deep) controller can be supplied as a simple 4-button module or can be combined with up to three more modules in any combination of 4-button, 6-button or LCD screen modules – giving up to 24 buttons, each of which can control a sequence of functions.
It can also be teamed with the 8-82005 microphone for speech record/playback/PA. The ModuLux can be mounted vertically or horizontally, and there’s also a DIN mount option. In addition, since last year’s event, Haztec has added many more models to its range of directional warning, scene, search and work lights.
