The Emergency Services Show at the NEC from 20 to 21 September features a host of learning opportunities including CPD-accredited seminars which are all free-to-attend.
The growing event gives you access to the best knowledge, training, technology, kit and support networks to prepare for future incidents and carry out your role to the best of your ability. Around the indoor and outdoor exhibition, you can see and handle the latest equipment and discuss needs with suppliers.
Simon Lewis, Head of Crisis Response at the British Red Cross will speak in the Lessons Learnt seminar theatre on managing communities’ response to crises in the aftermath of the Manchester and London terror attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.
In the Health & Wellbeing Theatre attendees can learn how Humberside FRS has implemented Blue Light Time to Change pledge to end mental health stigma and discrimination in the workplace. Simon Durance and Gary Hayes, co-founders of the charity PTSD999, will present a session on living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
In the Innovations Theatre, Rob Buckingham Director of RACE (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments) will explain the latest developments in robotics for the emergency services. Attendees can also find out more about the fully integrated control room operated by North West Fire Control, while Kent Fire & Rescue Service will share details of its Collaborative PPE Project. West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) will outline the service’s experience of using body worn cameras.
WMFS is also running an Extrication Challenge. Some of the UK’s best rescue personnel will develop their proficiency levels in all areas of road traffic collision rescue but specifically in incident command and control, safety and scene assessment, extrication, professional pre-hospital care and expert use of rescue equipment.
UKRO will be running a demonstration of space creation and practical cutting techniques, giving visitors a good basic understanding of how cutting and spreading tools work on vehicles.
The NEC is linked to Birmingham International Station and Birmingham Airport and directly accessible from the UK motorway network. Parking and entry are free.
