Rossetts Commercials – Mercedes-Benz Van & Truck main dealers for Sussex & Surrey UK, has underlined its reputation as a leading supplier of off-road commercial vehicles by becoming the first dealership in Great Britain to offer the all wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Rossetts have been appointed as the sole UK distributor of the unique 6×6 Sprinter developed by German specialist Oberaigner Automotive Gmbh based in Laage. This remarkable vehicle fills the gap in the 7 tonne van segment by combining a highly competitive payload capacity of up to 4 tonnes with exceptional ‘go anywhere’ capability.
All wheel drive conversion specialist Oberaigner are responsible for all of the extensive off-road modifications to this chassis. In addition to the external changes such as the snorkel, the under ride guard and a broader wheelbase; the Sprinter also features various sophisticated technical enhancements including permanent all-wheel drive and a total of four differential locks along with switchable all-terrain gear translation with a ratio of 2.85. The symmetrical double pendulum suspension on the rear axle also represents another technical refinement. The Oberaigner 6×6 easily handles high obstacles thanks to its 322 millimetres ground clearance below the front axle; and the reinforced frame allows an enormous payload of 4 tonnes with the vehicle’s maximum weight amounting to an amazing seven tonnes!
At this year’s UK Emergency Services Show (ESS) centre of stage on the Terberg Fire & Rescue stand will be their latest edition to the company`s range of innovative fire-fighting vehicles – the new multi-role TACR 4 built on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter 6×6 chassis supplied by Rossetts Commercials in partnership with Oberaigner Automotive. The TACR 4 can carry 1,400 litres of water, 80 litres of foam and is fitted with the proven Hale HPX pump producing over 900 litres per minute output. The vehicle features “pump and roll” allowing the front mounted monitor to be controlled from inside the crew cab whilst the vehicle is in motion. The vehicles multi-role capability makes it ideal for aerodrome rescue and fire-fighting applications with the concept easily adapted for local authority, industrial & military fire and rescue requirements plus other blue-light applications.
