First Quantum Minerals Limited in Zambia has taken delivery of a “First Attack” aerodrome crash rescue and fire-fighting vehicle from Tempest Fire Services. This tender is destined for the fire & rescue service at its Kalumbila Minerals subsidiary in the North West Province of Zambia.
This “First Attack” fire-tender is based on the proven Toyota Land Cruiser 79 SC series pick-up featuring a 4.2 litre V8 diesel engine, a pressurised foam producing system, a 680 litre pre-mixed foam tank, 2 x side-lines delivering 50 lpm at a distance of 28 metres and a manually operated Protek roof mounted monitor fitted with a Tempest Foam Tip delivering 680 lpm at a distance of 44 metres.
This variant features a front mounted winch plus four spacious lockers stowing 2 x breathing apparatus sets, crash rescue apparatus, tools and various fire-fighting equipment.
The Tempest Fire Services “First Attack” series of fire-fighting vehicles are custom built to individual customer’s specific requirements and are available on suitable chassis variations in aerodrome crash fire and rescue, road rescue and other specialist fire-fighting vehicle applications.
