British manufacturer Haztec International, is a trusted supplier of lighting and audible warning systems to the emergency and rescue services worldwide.
With lengths from 373mm (15in) to 2.4m (95in) over six separate ranges and a wide choice of components, they can configure lightbars to bespoke requirements. With their higher profiles, Xpress and Xpert lightbars can accommodate dual-row LEDs and are ideal for large fire appliances. Lower-profile bars include the Xpert SL and Xpert SLX, then there’s the Xpert SLE compact minibar with optional integral siren, which can be magnetically mounted onto an officer’s car and returned to the carry case when not required. Alongside its extensive choice of lightbars, the manufacturer also offers a wide selection of beacons, directional warning, work/scene lighting, programmable handsets and dash mount switching.
Siren/PA systems range from the programmable EuroSmart 8-82613 Class D 10–200W variable-output siren amplifier to the latest EuroSmart 8-82415 siren/PA. This compact, lightweight unit will drive one or two 8-7050 compact 50W speakers to deliver up to a very powerful 118dBA at 2m with one speaker and 123dBA with two speakers. The 8-82415 comes with dual radio rebroadcast input channels and a choice from 28 siren tones including mixed, true fanfare or vibrato (when installed with two speakers). The 8-82415 can be teamed with any Haztec CANbus handset or used as a standalone siren or siren with auxiliary microphone.
Haztec EuroSmart handsets and software allow sophisticated switching of lightbars, sirens and ancillary lights to be easily programmed. A single push button can activate a sequence of functions such as lightbar flash pattern, siren tone, grille and vehicle headlights. Brand new, and allowing even more advanced switching applications, is the 16 to 27 function 8-82316+ handset. The clever design of keypad functions, combined with the LCD screen, allow users seamless control of lights/siren operation and even external equipment such as a search light, reducing dashboard clutter.
The latest introduction to the scene light range is the 4-1815 with its powerful 2025 lumen output. The polycarbonate lens and bezel will deliver long-term durability and, with a choice of black, chrome, red, white and RAL1016 housings, the light provides a colour match with all emergency vehicle types.
Haztec’s HQ in Leeds, UK, incorporates extensive research, design, testing and manufacturing facilities from where it has supplied many thousands of vehicle warning products since it was formed two decades ago. Their electronics and mechanical design engineering teams use the latest design technology to ensure the range offers the optimum combination of quality, ease of use and value for money.
Excellence is assured through a robust ISO 9001 Quality Management System and extensive testing and certification. To its existing environmental and salt fog corrosion test chambers, the manufacturer has added an IPX5/IPX6 ingress test chamber that can also replicate the water ingress test requirements of UNECE R65, and a vibration test bed, which simulates the long-term effects of vehicle-mounted vibration. Similarly, Haztec sirens and speakers are fully endurance tested and tones are homologated against many country-specific standards.

In parallel, the majority of Haztec lightbars, warning lights and beacons are also independently certified to the United Nations regulation ECE R65, ensuring they meet minimum standards for light intensity or brightness at all necessary angles. The approval process also verifies flash frequency and light colour under Class 1 and/or the more stringent Class 2 conditions, in addition to water-ingress protection. The R65 certification provides independent verification of the effectiveness of a product’s warning capability. Haztec products are similarly submitted for independent testing to UNECE Regulation 10 for electromagnetic compatibility.
Small wonder the manufacturer can demonstrate such a strong track record in the emergency services sector.
