SEIZ has been producing high-quality protective gloves since 1961. The idea to produce gloves with innovative design and new fits was born in an old farmhouse.
To this day, SEIZ has always adapted to growing needs. For example, the company headquarters is still in Metzingen (Germany) but now in a modern building with offices, production and a fully automated pallet warehouse. This is how tradition and modernity are combined.
In addition to the company headquarters, the idea of revolutionary innovations and innovative designs has also remained. In 1994, for example, SEIZ launched the world’s first fully textile firefighting glove. Many inventions and awards later, the patented ZIP’N’CLOSE system as a quick closure system for firefighting gloves followed in 2021.
As a matter of principle, the protective gloves must meet the high requirements for quality, material, functionality and protective effect. Special high-performance yarns, KEVLAR, NOMEX, PBI and membranes from GORE-TEX as well as controlled production play a decisive role. In addition to functionality and fit, user safety is the top priority. The high-quality standard is ensured by the company’s own laboratory at the site. There, raw materials are put through their paces before they are used in production.
The portfolio is structured in such a way that firefighters can fully equip themselves with SEIZ gloves. In addition to firefighting and technical gloves, insulating gloves with arc flash protection and chemical protection gloves from the industrial sector round off the portfolio in the firefighting sector.
In conjunction with many partners, the employees are on site at the fire brigades to advise them in the best possible way and to equip them optimally for upcoming operations.
It goes without saying that suggestions for improvement, which are submitted to the team by firefighters and rescue services, are followed up within the framework of technical feasibility. In this way, new and further developments are always created.
Interschutz 2022 was a very important event for SEIZ, as there were exciting and informative discussions with firefighters. This kind of direct exchange is essential in order to be able to respond specifically to the requirements of the market.
In addition to two firefighting gloves, which have been given a revised design, two new models were presented: the DIPTEX 666 Profi is a rescue glove that impresses with its extreme dexterity as well as maximum values within the scope of certification according to DIN EN 388 and 13997. A nice side effect of the steel thread used, which among other things ensures maximum cut protection, is that it is touchscreen compatible as a result.
Forest fires are becoming more and more frequent. Emergency services demand lightweight gloves for their protection. The Magnus model has flame-retardant materials on the backhand and contact-heat-tested leather on the palm. Consequently, it can also be used for outdoor attacks. As the model is based on the rescue glove Mechanic 185, the Magnus can also be used for rescue operations at the same time. Thus, the Magnus covers a wide range of firefighting and rescue operations (except indoor attack).
The ZIP’N’CLOSE closure system mentioned above was also well received by comrades and made some of them wonder whether this system is not more than an alternative to the conventional cuff variants.
In addition, the team around CEO Rainer Seiz, who used to be an active firefighter himself and is therefore very familiar with the subject, is already working on further innovations in these areas in order to always be able to provide firefighters with the best possible gloves for their missions. Last but not least, sustainability aspects are also in focus.
