The UK’s National Chemical Emergency Centre (NCEC) has celebrated achieving its 500th private sector customer by publishing a free roundtable article from its annual practitioners’ forum on supply chain best practice
The 2016 forum was attended by several major chemical companies with a combined annual sales revenue of $120bn per annum. For the first time NCEC and its partners have published the outcomes of this annual meeting to provide insight into what some of the world’s leading chemical companies consider best practice for protecting people, property and the environment across the global supply chain. At the forum delegates explored the contemporary challenges companies face in building robustness into product supply chains and the steps that they are taking to ensure best practice is employed across the chemical industry. This includes improving the visibility of distributor’s chemical safety processes, providing training for stakeholders in international regions and managing the varying degrees of harmonisation in global regulations. 24 hour multilingual emergency response was identified as an essential requirement for trading in international markets, such as China or Latin America.

NCEC offers multilingual services in over 48 languages, including Mandarin and Cantonese and is accredited to provide emergency response in China through its relationship with the National Registration Centre for Chemicals.
