Hainsworth Technology fabrics have been chosen to be part of the prestigious Central PPE and Clothing Contract (CPCC).
The company’s TITAN 1260 and ECO-DRY Active are the selected combination for structural garments, while its ECO-DRY Shield has been chosen for wildland garments.
The decision to include the fabrics as part of the CPCC follows the Technology Refresh programme, the most extensive independent PPE reassessment ever undertaken in the UK.
The CPCC replaces the previous programme, Integrated Clothing Project (ICP), and is intended to take the procurement scheme well into the 2020s.
The CPCC is available to any Fire and Rescue Service in England and Wales to join free-of-charge and membership gives access to a full range of best-in-class products and services.
Bristol Uniforms has the responsibility of supplying the wide range of PPE and non-PPE clothing for the CPCC.
Philip Tasker, UK Sales Director for Bristol Uniforms, said: “All products available through the CPCC have been thoroughly and independently tested. Technical performance testing combined with extensive wearer evaluation has resulted in a cost-effective solution for fire and rescue services.”
Tom Hainsworth, Managing Director of Hainsworth Technology, said: “We are delighted that TITAN 1260, ECO-DRY Active and ECO-DRY Shield have been selected within the CPCC.
“As a business, we are committed to listening to firefighters about their requirements on the frontline as well as working closely with our industry partners.
“We are also continually looking for ways in which we can innovate and develop our products to ensure they keep pace with the changing and often complex needs of today’s fire and rescue services both within the UK and globally.”
The new structural garments use a Hainsworth TITAN 1260 outer fabric, which is woven in a combination of DuPont® Nomex, DuPont® Kevlar and PBI fibres in a natural gold colour, and incorporate a Gore CROSSTECH Fire Blocker moisture barrier with a Hainsworth ECO-DRY Active lining.
The PPE range is completed by the inclusion of a new wildland garment – a single layer garment using Hainsworth ECO-DRY Shield fabric specially designed for firefighters faced with tackling scrub, woodland and heathland wildfires.
Tom added: “The Technology Refresh programme has seen all PPE and non-PPE clothing undergo the most rigorous review. The products now selected to be part of the CPCC are the very best available in the marketplace. They are high quality, durable, flexible and intended to deliver optimum operational effectiveness as well as best value.”
